Shiny Button (Bevel)

I'm back, people! So here's another post for my DA class. Sorry I haven't been posting up stuff about life and sophomore experiences - promise on the River Styx I'll get started on that soon! Any who, here's yet another DA post to satisfy your hunger for extra blog posts! Sorry if you don't want extra blog posts, classy people - I'm actually enjoying this blog and I intend to keep it after this course is over. Don't worry, I'll post up cool things going on in my life; or maybe they won't be as cool because I'm quite average. Sorry, sorry, I'm stalling because this is going to be extra lame. So with that, we shall commence the post!

Creating Artwork
In general, I'm not a creative person. Yes, I can imagine things and TRY - codeword is TRY - to convey them through emotions and stories, but I'm not a great storyteller or a very emotional person so they usually suck. But nonetheless, I have a wide imagination, according to some sources (Thanks mom and Hazel!). Although I'm not as creative, I do like art. I'm not some art fanatic who goes gaga over new art designs and such, but I do like looking at art. It's awesome how someone can make a 2D painting look 3D. But it's even cooler that I - I'm stressing that 'I' right there - get to create my own type of art! Of course, using "Bevels"!

Bevels... What are bevels, you ask? Well, dear reader, bevels are effects that make a 2D object look 3D. Fascinating, isn't it?!

There are 5 commands that I personally used to create the latest Inkscape project:
1. Blur
2. Fill & Stroke (That's basically like paint)
3. Gradient (Adds this cool colour effect)
4. Path (Used to distort shape)
5. Color & Shapes! (Can't forget the most important ingredient!)

So, the overall experience? It was pretty easy to make, and the product looked really cool! I'm telling you, I'm not an artsy person, but this project made me feel like Picasso. . . Or maybe not Picasso because he's TOO talented. Also, this project could help YOU - if you want to make this, or if you already did, dear person. Now you're probably thinking, "Wow Jackie, really? How can this help me, huh??" Do not fret, eager beaver! This could actually enhance your critical thinking skills. To be extra, vir-specific, it'll help you think more - exercise your brain! Obviously, I'm not going to give you the steps to make this; you're going to have to THINK about how you're going to create this wondrous project! That's right, make that brain work!

My First DA Blog

Welcome back, my lovely stalkers! In my last post, I mentioned something about my blog being a "Digital Arts" thing. You're all probably thinking, "Well, where's her digital arts post?" - The long awaited post has finally arrived lovelies. Hope you could all learn from this post and the other DA posts soon to come! . . . JOKES, go ahead laugh at my lame answers and tell your friends. Or just don't tell your friends - don't spread the "Jackie-ism" (as much as I want people to read about my experiences, I'm actually really embarrassed about writing because I'm horrible at it)

First Question! What is a blog?

A blog is basically like an online journal for you to express whatever you're feeling or to write about something you love - I like to think of it as a distant cousin of twitter or something. In my case, I must continue this blog to receive a grade.

Second Question! What are three ways a blog can help you?

1. Some awesome college professors or superiors could look at my blog and be like "Wow, let's get this girl into OUR college" (To all those legit college professors, I'm sorry if I disappoint you with my blog - I'm trying my best)

2. This could actually improve my writing skills. I'm probably one of the WORST writers in class because I can't use "large vocabulary" as well. Also, writing professionally isn't my forte - reading's where it's at! (Practically died at Best Seller when the clerk told me their "Blood of Olympus" books were coming NEXT YEAR - why is Saipan so cruel to me?)

3. This blog could actually bloom into something spectacularly famous! Jokes, only my digital arts teacher and a bunch of my peers would look at my blog. Pewdiepie and Bill Gates would rather read articles about moldy bread than my silly little girl blog. Going back to the subject at hand, I'm just saying, maybe YOUR (you, dear reader, classmate, stranger, Ms.Buenaflor) blog could make millions with a single word! I'm already jealous of your accomplishments! 

Last Question! What's a drawback of having a blog?

Well, if this blog does gain some loyal followers, it would be a pain in the behind to update it to keep people happy. Then again, I doubt this would attract the attention of a crowd, so why worry about the drawbacks? It's better to continue this blog normally because it makes me feel like I've accomplished something in life.

I'm back, dear reader! Sorry, if this post is really long. I had to add a second part; Originally, this was supposed to go up yesterday, but my lovely mother decided to commence the update right before I hit publish (Sad, I know. I wanted to crawl under my blanket and sob because I was sooooo close to finishing). Anywho, here's the second portion of your weekly dose of DA posts!

 Creating the Rusty Gear

Alright, so in class the other day, my classmates and I created a simple project - the Rusty Gear. Now, this may be a lame thing to do in class, but please bear with me - I'm a noob at this. Also, don't worry, lovelies! As time progresses, I'll be posting up cooler-looking projects. With that, let us begin!

Q: Ms.Doctor, can you please name and explain 4 commands that you used in creating the Rusty Gear?
A: Gladly, Mr.Interviewer Man! Well for this project, I used several commands, but I'll name the main commands I used - There's intersection, difference, union, and filters. Union, obviously, are shapes/items joined together; Difference subtracts the shape overlapping the other; Intersection takes away the area that isn't being overlapped; And lastly, filters are particular effects that can be applied to an image (or part of an image).

Q: Ooooooh, well said! How about other commands? Can you name 3 helpful commands in creating an object?

A: You need to attend a Mr.Vir class with me, Mr. Interviewer because that question isn't as specific! But nonetheless, I'll answer your question for those tuning in! Honestly, I think filters, align & distribute, and duplicating (Ctrl + D) are really helpful because they make life easier AND they make your work look pretty and organized.

Q: . . . . I'm sorry for that vague question, Ms.Doctor. But I have one last question, if that's okay to ask.

A: No problem, sir. Ask away!

Q: How was the overall experience? Working with the people, learning the Inkscape controls, trying to follow Ms.Buenaflor as she explained the project? 

A: First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents for giving me this laptop to install Inkscape - JOKES I'm not giving you some speech. Anyways, this project wasn't as difficult to comprehend. Yes, there were some moments when those distractions got in the way, but I managed to finish my work on time and also had enough time to help a few other people. Overall, I'm a bit meh and like you know "wow" about this whole thing because the project was really easy and super cool (So amazed only because I'm not the artsy farsty type).

That "No posts" Sign Irritates Me

As cliché as it sounds, I guess I have to introduce myself to all the readers out there. So, my name's Jaqueline (That's not a misspelling, there is literally no 'c' in my name) Doctor, but people call me Jackie because Jaqueline sounds too sophisticated and uptight - no offense to the other Jaqueline's out there, I bet you guys are all sophisticatedly wonderful... Other things about me, born and raised on a small island called Saipan, been a knight for basically my whole life, and living life with a bunch of kewl kids from the same school.

Alright, so just like the other blogs you've probably stalked, this is for my Digital Arts class. I'm apologizing in advance because my posts are probably going to be really lame or really, REALLY random - Sorry, I lied, I'm not extraordinary; just extraordinarily short and weird. Hopefully my oddities satisfy your cravings for something new and entertaining.
